Last November, we gathered with about 25 volunteers for the annual Dream of Don Bosco volunteer weekend in Assel of Don Bosco.
Brother Giovanni was also present. It was a warm, inspiring, and grateful gathering in which service and solidarity were central. We did various activities and also took the time to tidy up our storage space so that everything is ready for the upcoming youth and family camps in 2026. We also enjoyed each other's company during shared meals, moments of prayer, and pleasant conversations.
A special part of the weekend was the online lecture by Father Ramzi from Lebanon, who spoke to us via Zoom. He gave a thoughtful and in-depth explanation of the Gospel story of Martha and Mary, with the theme of service and prayer.
His words invited us to seek a balance between active service and inner silence. By delving into the story of Martha and Mary, we are reminded how important it is that everything we do comes from God's will and not from our own desires.
Prayer and listening to His word, as Mary did, help us to stay on the right path and to distinguish between what we want and what God desires for us. At the same time, we learn from Martha the value of service and loving work for others.
As volunteers, we are invited to bring these two attitudes together: staying close to the Lord, listening to His word and praying, so that we too can serve with joy and a generous heart. That is the spirit that should always guide us on our way.
To conclude, we celebrated the Eucharist together with Salesian brothers in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit.
This gathering coincided with the end of the liturgical year: the Solemnity of Christ the King, a beautiful and meaningful conclusion to both the weekend and the liturgical year.
After the celebration, all volunteers received their Christmas gifts, handed out by Rita, the founder of our foundation, as a warm gesture of gratitude for everyone's dedication and commitment in the year 2025.
